DMOF is a working laboratory to evaluate new tools, equipment, and facilities and it is now fully rolled out within the department of defense. It features a flexible, agile work base that can reputably be reconfigured to accommodate new work load demands and respond to the needs of customers. Concepts and methods proved in DMOF will migrate to other Tobyhanna maintenance organizations and will be shared across the department of defense and maintenance community.
Technical assistance in the field has expanded rapidly this decade, and growth will continue with the evolution of a new organizational structure to manage and coordinate field sustainment and support. Tobyhanna is formulating an integrated approach to deliver worldwide, expeditionary field logistics support and services for the joint war fighter. This will be accomplished through a global network of permanent and deployed personnel located at forward locations. They will possess a reach-back and reach-across capability within Army Materiel Command to fully leverage technical and industrial capabilities for war fighters.
The interactive collaboration facility for defense in Pennsylvania, Tobyhanna DMOF, is a comprehensive solution to utilize the integrated interactive 3D stereo virtual environment as a Customer Experience Center as well as a portal to the US based location abroad for design and engineering collaboration. Immersive state-of-the-art audiovisual presentations and 3D holographic projection systems based on EON Reality technology demonstrate Tobyhanna's capabilities to visitors and customer. Descriptive scenarios, projected on the glass walls of the facility depict how Tobyhanna ensures support to the war fighter in such areas as owning the night, force protection and communications. Depot engineers use the Power Wall, a virtual reality environment, for workload design and development with customers. Interactive 3D visualizations demonstrate the future of the depot maintenance and show how Tobyhanna can virtually project its capabilities wherever joint forces operate. Holographic staging and EON TouchLight displays, using infrared technologies, allow visitors to interact with 3D models of Tobyhanna-support equipment.
