Get Work’n – JOBS on SCG

December 5th, 2011 by David Heller

Where Your Gallery is Your Resume

We’ve just integrated  new  Job posting and finding capabillity into ShareCG that’s FREE, easy to use and destined to deliver great results. We built it to bring talent seekers and SCG’s great talent together.

Looking for Talent?

If you’re looking for super-creative talent then you’ve come to the right place.  ShareCG has more than 200,000 active registered members with skill sets ranging from CG art, animation, 3D modeling, texture production, and more.  We’ve made posting your job quick and easy, and your job posting is presented in the home page Jobs listing, in the Jobs section, and in your Gallery.

To post a job simply go to your account, click the ‘add new upload’ tab then click the ‘job posting’ button and enter your job requisition. You can add graphics, special formating, and embed video into your posting to make it stand out.  Also remember to fully describe and present your business in your Gallery and Portfolio so job seekers can learn more about you before they apply.

Once your job has been filled please Suspend its listing from within your Account’s ‘uploads.’ (We will  soon be adding a feature that will automatically suspend your job post after 30 days, and you’ll be able to re-publish it with one-click if needed.)

Looking for Work?

To apply for a job just click a job’s short description from the Jobs listings and enter a letter or resume, attach any material that you feel will help your effort, and click ‘Apply for This Job.’  You can also visit the job poster’s SCG gallery and website to learn more. (At times you might also be sent directly to the Job Poster’s web application.)

You’ll also be able to FOLLOW job posters to receive email notification on the day they post a job!

This is a Beta Release

If you have any suggestions, or if you uncover any bugs, we’d definately like to know.  Your input is very valuable to us, and we do listen!  Please use the ‘Report a Bug’ and ‘Make a Suggestion’ links at the bottom of this page to communicate with us.

I checked the new Jobs section from curiosity and there is one ‘Job’ offer posted that at the end of the description says: “THIS IS A NON-PAYING volunteer job designed to …”
It is to Lightwave experts by jlp media.

As a graphic artist who has railed against ‘free’ ‘low pay’ ‘spec’ jobbing for years I do not think that propagating the idea that graphic artists are financially worthless is what this site is trying to get across.

As a writer for Graphic Design Forums I published this article in 2006 that a lot of graphic artists have appreciated. It’s about “Getting Paid”:

Perhaps your Jobs section needs to be segmented into ‘volunteer’ positions vs real jobs? Or eliminate the ‘for spec’ postings altogether?

In these days of economic uncertainty many major corporations and others are actively seeking interns. You can find thousands of intern positions posted on the web. For people who want to break into a field of their choice an internship can lay the foundation for a lifetime career. I don’t see a problem here, but opportunity to grow and we want to support all our users find both paying jobs and internships.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on this. BTW I get the Graphic Design digest and admire your work – thank you 🙂

I just found this blog through a friend on IRC. I personally am a job seeker, my biggest fault is to have 44 🙁 I model airplanes (and others) in recent years. And I can believe that I’m not bad in this area.

You can see my various 3D models here:

Ah other details. I am French and I live in France.

    Regards Emmanuel BARANGER

Hi Emmanuel – I took a look at your site – beautiful collection of models! I just sent the SCG job functionality notice to 100,000 of our users ( we have 200,000) and I’ll also be heavily publicizing our new jobs functionality in 2012 🙂 If you haven’t yet uploaded models you might consider building a gallery on SCG. Hopefully my marketing efforts will draw in some employers soon, and you’ll be all set. Have a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!

Hi Athyrius, I’m a beta tester for Thea render and most people are cutting their throats to make a living, specially the guys in the States, companies are outsourcing to countries like china.

Anyway I’d love to advertise for work but 2 years as a tester means most of my recent work was done to test/break something and it just so happens I ended up with a scene, BUT I know my way around Thea, Sketchup and a few others
There’s some bits n pieces here:

    take care
