“The Numberlys” from Moonbot Studios Wins 2012 Webby Award for Best Tablet Entertainment App

Multimedia animation and storytelling company continues award winning year with international Internet excellence recognition

SHREVEPORT, La. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — May 21, 2012 — Moonbot Studios announced today that its second iOS app, “ The Numberlys,” has been named the winner of a Webby Award in the Best Entertainment app category for tablets and mobile devices. Hailed as the "Internet's highest honor" by The New York Times, the 16th Annual Webby Awards are presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS) and are the leading international awards honoring excellence on the Internet.

“The Numberlys” is the second epic adventure from Moonbot Studios, the animation house best known for the Academy Award ® winning short film, “The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore.” This cinematic, Metropolis-inspired story App is a tongue-in-cheek adventure about the origin of the alphabet which engages people of all ages with over 10 minutes of sumptuous animation and 18 inventive games. “The Numberlys” is available on iOS devices and downloadable on the iTunes store for $5.99.

In keeping with Moonbot’s focus on telling distinctive stories across multiple mediums, “The Numberlys,” will be available as a short film later this year and as a published book in 2013.

The Webby Awards is presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS). The IADAS, which nominates and selects The Webby Award winners, is comprised of web industry experts, including media mogul Arianna Huffington, Skype CEO Tony Bates, SHFT.com co-founder Adrian Grenier, Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom, mobile-phone inventor Martin Cooper, and Mikael Hed, CEO of Rovio, creators of the Webby Award-winning game app Angry Birds.
