Indian Firm - G V Films to invest in animation firm 'Sanra' (Hindu Times)

Chennai, June 12 (PTI): G V Films Limited has evinced interest in investing in an animation company 'Sanra' a top company official said recently.

Sanra, which had bagged orders for the production work of some cartoon films from Hollywood, would decide very soon on the G V's offer, Sanra CEO, Sukumar Subramanian, told a press conference.

A Venkatramani, Director, G V films, said his company would like to have 10 per cent stakes in Sanra, but all would depend on the decision of the animation company.

G V had bagged a US $6 million order for producing an animation film from the United States, besides US$ 12 million order from a UK company, Venkatramani said, adding Sanra's expertise would be used in producing both the films.

The company was also exploring the possibilities for a tie up with Universal Studios in the Hollywood for production of animation films, he said.

G K films, which had tied up with Abirami, a film distribution company to bag the rights of Rajnikant's yet to be released 'Sivaji', was also in the process of getting the rights of some more movies, he said.

Sanra today signed a MOU with the University of Portsmouth, UK, under which students would be trained in animation, Sukumar said. The university would award graduate and post-graduate degress in the subject, he said adding that there would be exchange of students between the two institutions.
