Par Supplies Business Data for Google Maps

August 30th, 2010 — Google has appointed the European database specialist, PAR : cts.businesswire.com/ct/CT?id=smartlink&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww .. , to supply business data for Google maps for Sweden and Finland.

Under the agreement, PAR will provide, and continually update, data for Google maps from its pan-European business database, EuroContactPool : cts.businesswire.com/ct/CT?id=smartlink&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww .. .

This will enable users of Google maps to ‘see’ businesses in the location where they’re looking and click on to them to get more detail.

Users will also be able to search for specific businesses using company name or industry and find their location on Google maps.

Google has partnered with PAR because the EuroContactPool business database is the most accurate and comprehensive in Scandinavia. PAR was one of several different vendors whose data was tested by Google before the contract was awarded.

PAR, part of the giant Bisnode group, has been managing business data for more than 50 years. In 2004, the company launched EuroContactPool as a unique pan-European online business data resource. It now offers a one-stop, one-price contact point for 22 million businesses and 16 million named executives in 14 countries.

PAR has developed EuroContactPool beyond data listings into an interactive service that links seamlessly into customer relationship management systems including Microsoft Dynamics and SuperOffice. A plug-in to salesforce.com is planned for the autumn. PAR also provides data analysis, data cleansing and data search.

Jeanna Rutherhill, Sales Director of Google Sweden, says: “We are very pleased that we can use PAR’s expertise as a provider of business information to our Google Maps service in Sweden and Finland. Local and updated information about the company is increasingly important as more and more people seek information online, both via computer and cell phone. Through our partnership with PAR, users can now find relevant results on local businesses in Google Maps when they need it”.

Johan Lindqvist, Business Manager International at PAR AB says: “Google is recognised as the first place that most people go to find information online. It’s a great benefit for companies to be identified and located on Google maps and it’s also vitally important that the information is accurate. Data quality is the focus of our business offering and we’re delighted that Google has selected PAR”.
