Growing European Interest in Geolocation Technology Drives Digital Element to Expand International Operations

Three New Directors Tapped to Serve Online Businesses Across Europe

ATLANTA — (BUSINESS WIRE) — November 29, 2011Digital Element, the leading provider of geolocation and IP Intelligence technology, today announced the addition of three senior professionals to its international sales team to serve the company’s growing list of European customers. The new appointments are: Kate Owen, Northern European Business Development Director; Stephen Gardner, Southern European Business Development Director; and Charlie Johnson, European e-Commerce and Publisher Sales Director.

During the past year, Digital Element has launched its NetAcuity Edge hyperlocal IP-to-postcode database in Europe and significantly expanded its international operations and European client base. This reflects the staggering growth of the market, as well as Digital Element’s position as the leading provider of IP Intelligence and geolocation solutions. With online overtaking television as the most popular advertising medium in the United Kingdom alone this year, achieving a record share of 27 percent, according to a bi-annual report by the Internet Advertising Bureau, PwC and marketing group WARC, continued growth in underlying technologies is expected to remain strong.

“Since opening our London office in 2009 and launching NetAcuity Edge, we have seen a steady increase in demand for our geolocation solutions across Europe,” said Frank Bobo, Vice President of Business Development, Digital Element. “The addition of these highly seasoned sales professionals will allow Digital Element to serve the needs of our European customers in their home markets and languages.”

Joining Digital Element’s international sales team are:

Kate Owen, Northern European Business Development Director

Owen has more than 10 years of online advertising and technology solutions experience. Prior to Digital Element, she spent 12 years living and working in Germany, initially in product management roles for digital publishing brands and later heading up German business development for the international ad network ad pepper media. In 2010, she moved to London to lead the United Kingdom operations for the Danish ad serving company Emediate. Owen holds a Master of Arts degree in European business and is fluent in German.

Stephen Gardner, Southern European Business Development Director

Gardner brings more than 10 years of business development expertise and a deep knowledge of the digital space to his role, where he has experience in areas including web analytics, online promotions, affinity marketing, and publishing. He also has broad international experience, having lived and worked across South America and Europe. Prior to Digital Element, Gardner served as the Business Development Manager for AT Internet, Europe’s largest web analytics provider. He studied business management at the University in Glion, Switzerland, before finally planting his roots in London. Gardner is fluent in Spanish, French and Portuguese and is able to work “in language” with Digital Element’s client base in Southern Europe.

Charlie Johnson, European e-Commerce and Publisher Sales Director

Johnson brings more than seven years of digital expertise to the team and has experience working with e-commerce and publisher clients both in the United Kingdom and across Continental Europe. Prior to joining Digital Element, Johnson served as Head of Sales EMEA for RealNetworks in the consumer division, focusing on the publishing, subscription and media player business. In her new role with Digital Element, Johnson will focus on e-commerce, geographic rights management and publisher applications. Johnson holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in business from University of Cardiff business school.

Digital Element’s IP Intelligence and geolocation technology is used by online businesses for targeted advertising, content localization, geographic rights management, local search and enhanced analytics. Some of the company’s European customers include Adcloud, Adconion Media Group, AdJug, ADTECH, Alterian, ClickDistrict, cXense AS, Enecto AB, Experian Ltd., Guardian Newspapers, Next Performance, Perform Media, Siemens, Nokia, Specific Media UK, thetrainline.com, Twofour Digital, Videology, VideoPlaza, Voddler, We7, Webtrekk, The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), WiredMinds AG, and Yandex.

NetAcuity Edge has revolutionized the IP geolocation space by providing the only non-cookie-based, validated IP-to-postcode geographic data on the market. Based purely on Internet network infrastructure analysis of ISP nodes and insight derived from Digital Element’s global partners, NetAcuity Edge maintains the traditional user anonymity associated with IP geolocation data while delivering an unprecedented level of IP-to-postcode targeting precision. Originally launched in the United States in 2009 and the United Kingdom in 2010, NetAcuity Edge now extends hyperlocal targeting capabilities across all of Europe, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East.
